Bishnupur, February 24 2026: A Farmers' Field Day on demonstration of Rabi vegetables, focusing on garden pea and broad bean, was successfully organised at Ningthoukhong in Bishnupur district, under the NEC project titled "Integrated Farming System Model Demonstration for Sustainable Economics and Livelihood".

The project is being implemented by the Directorate of Extension Education, Central Agriculture University (CAU), in collaboration with KVK Imphal East.

The programme showcased the successful cultivation and production performance of Rabi vegetables under the Integrated Farming System (IFS) model.

The programme was graced by Prof Ph Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension, CAU, Imphal, as the chief guest.

In his address, he emphasized the significance of IFS in enhancing farm resilience, improving resourceuse efficiency, and ensuring sustainable livelihoods, especially in the face of emerging climate challenges.

He encouraged the farmers to adopt improved and scientific agriculture practices for higher productivity and income enhancement.

The programme was attended by members of the monitoring team and officials, including Dr Kh Rishikanta Singh, Senior Scientist, ICAR Lamphelpat; Sapam Jiten Singh from the Dept of Fisheries, Govt of Manipur; Dr Kamei Kakhulan, District Veterinary Officer, Dept of Veterinary; Dr I Bhupendra, Deputy Director of Extension Education, CAU Imphal; Dr Y Prabhabati Devi, Senior Scientist & Head of KVK Imphal East; and Th Ibochouba Singh, JE, CAU Imphal.

The monitoring team experts appreciated the field level implementation of IFS model and interacted with farmers to understand the impact of the intervention on productivity and income.

A total of 70 farmers and farm women from the locality, along with officials from KVK Imphal East, actively participated in the programme.

As part of the initiative, quality seeds of French bean, cowpea, and maize were distributed to the farmers to encourage further adoption of improved varieties and integrated farming practices.
