SSUM extends support to Siangai Namdai village guards, calls for hill-valley unity

Imphal, May 22 2026: The Socialist Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM) on Friday extended essential material support to village guards at Siangai Namdai, stating that it remains prepared to provide immediate assistance to hill brethren in times of crisis and against external threats.

During an interaction with villagers, SSUM handed over various necessary items to the guards in the presence of local residents.

Speaking at the programme, SSUM president S Yaima said the union, together with the Rongmei Naga Council and Rongmei Naga Luh Phuam, is working to strengthen bonds with communities in the foothills so that mutual help can be extended during hardship.

"This is not the end but the beginning.

We must be prepared to collectively face any external force trying to disrupt unity or create further conflict", he said, adding that just as people from the valley should not remain bystanders when the hills face trouble, hill communities too should extend swift help when the valley is affected.

Yaima noted that SSUM will continue to visit different areas to provide timely support and reinforce fraternal ties, and urged public cooperation in the effort.

Gaikhiamlung Thaimei, vice president of Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation, NTL, welcomed the gesture, saying the support from valley-based students has strengthened their resolve.

"This assistance makes us more encouraged.

Let us stay united and work together to resolve the issues facing our land", he said.
