HERICOUN, Jiribam District Council president S Sainik Kumar has demanded the immediate transfer of Officer In-Charge (OC) of Jiribam Police Station, Tikendra Thingujam, alleging irresponsible conduct while responding to a complaint related to the seizure of goods vehicle by unknown miscreants.
Addressing a press conference held at the office of AJMP at Babupara, Jiribam, jointly organised by HERICOUN, Jiribam District Council; AJMP, WASED and DI/Bolero Camper Owners' Welfare Association, Jiribam, S Sainik Kumar stated that a DI truck loaded with vegetables from Assam, bearing registration number AS11GC-1318, was allegedly intercepted at area under Noney district by unknown miscreants.
According to him, the miscreants reportedly unloaded the goods and detained the vehicle without releasing it.
He further informed that from the driver's phone, a woman identified as Atholiu allegedly claimed that the vehicle had been captured by her and would not be released despite appeals.
Sainik Kumar said that when representatives approached Jiribam Police Station on Sunday morning to lodge a formal complaint, they were informed that the OC was not present.
Upon contacting him through his subordinates, the OC reportedly stated that the matter fell under the jurisdiction of Noney district and advised them to file the complaint there.
Terming the response as irresponsible, Sainik Kumar said the people of Jiribam strongly condemn such conduct and urged the authorities not to retain such an officer in the district.
He demanded that the OC be transferred within 48 hours and replaced with a responsible officer who understands his duties.
He further warned that if the transfer is not effected within the stipulated time, the people of Jiribam along with CSOs would launch a strong agitation against the OC.
Meanwhile, he stated that following further communication with the OC of Noney PS, it was reported that the vehicle had been released.
He expressed gratitude on behalf of the people and CSOs of Jiribam to the Noney OC for responding positively to their request and facilitating the vehicle's release.
