Agitation withdrawn after release of village volunteer

Bishnupur, September 20 2025: Following the release of Thokchom Romen today, locals of Ningthoukhong have withdrawn their protest demonstrations.

It is worth recalling that Romen from Ningthoukhong Municipal Council Ward No 14 was arrested by Manipur Police Commandos on September 18 .

Locals had staged a sit-in and blocked Tiddim Road at Ningthoukhong Keithel demanding his unconditional release yesterday.

Speaking in this connection, RK Tombisana, president, Women's Wing, Ningthoukhong Protection Committee, shared that the IDPs of Mangolnganbi College Relief Camp, Ningthoukhong Apunba Lup and Ningthoukhong Protection Committee Women Wing had earlier resolved to stage intense protests if Romen was not released by September 22 .

However, he was released on bail after being produced before the Court today.

As a result, all agitations have been withdrawn, she said.
