Proposed Kendriya Vidyalaya site inspected at Longmai-2

Noney, August 20 2026:
A joint inspection of the proposed site for establishment of a new Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) at Kaithypung, Longmai-2, Noney district headquarters, was conducted on Thursday in connection with an Office Order issued by the Office of the Secretary (Education/S), Government of Manipur, on June 23, 2026 .
The inspection was led by Dinganglung Gangmei, IAS (Retd), MLA of 54-Nungba Assembly Constituency and Chairman of the Hill Areas Committee (HAC).
He was accompanied by Dr Ashutosh Singh, Principal, KV No 2 Manipur; Rohilash Ghinlala, Principal, KV Leimakhong; and Karingaipou Panmei, SO, MANIDCO .
Landowners, village leaders and elders also took part in the inspection.
The landowners have donated 15 acres for construction of the proposed Kendriya Vidyalaya.
After inspecting the site, Gangmei expressed satisfaction with its suitability and said the foundation stone would be laid shortly, with construction expected to commence soon.
He announced that the KV would begin classes from the 2027-28 academic session, initially for Classes I to IV.
Classes would be conducted temporarily at the Working Women Hostel at Longmai-1, near the SDO/BDO Longmai Office, until the permanent campus is ready.
Gangmei also stated that several major development projects are in the pipeline for Noney district and appealed to the public to avoid land-related disputes that could delay developmental works.
He assured that the rigid pavement road already completed from Longmai Bazar along NH-37 to Longmai-1 would be extended up to Longmai-2.Village and church leaders, along with members of the public, expressed gratitude to the MLA for facilitating educational and infrastructure development in the district, describing the proposed Kendriya Vidyalaya as a significant milestone for the future of the region.
