Chandel, April 20 2026:
Assam Rifles facilitated a series of yoga-centric activities from April 13 to 20, 2026 across the border villages of Chandel District.
According to a release issued by IGAR (South), the efforts, aimed at nurturing physical and mental well-being, saw 127 local residents including women and children participating with great enthusiasm at Kovang, Aibol Joupi and Old Samtal.
The outreach follows a similar successful campaign held earlier in the month across Sehlon and Phoilen, showcasing a holistic approach .to community health and social harmony.
At Kovang and Old Samtal, the initiative took the form of awareness rallies and poster campaigns.
Local youth and children walked through their villages, carrying messages on the transformative power of yoga in daily life.
In Aibol Joupi, mass sessions were conducted where instructors guided the participants through foundational postures and breathing exercises.
The outreach also extended to students at New Samtal village, where a session focused on the practical benefits of yoga for stress management and long-term health.
These activities are part of a broader momentum leading up to the International Day of Yoga, intended to integrate ancient wellness practices into the daily routines of remote border populations.
By focusing on collective participation and healthy habits, the initiative serves to strengthen the social fabric and mutual trust in the region.
The vibrant turnout of elders and school children alike reflects a growing awareness of holistic wellness, reinforcing a shared commitment to the well-being of the communities along the frontier, said AR .
