Protest for establishment of DIET Centre continues in Jiribam

Jiribam, July 19 2025: Students and womenfolk of Jiribam staged a sit-in protest in front of Congress Office at Babupara reiterating their demand for the establishment of DIET Centre in the district.

The protest was jointly organised by AJMP, WASEDEV, JIMWAK, WWOK, IKAL, MSF, DESAM, KSA, AIMS and SUK.

Speaking by the sideline of the protest, WASEDEV president N Nivarani sought the attention of Manipur Governor and Chief Secretary to address their demand.

She highlighted the necessity for a DIET Centre in Jiribam while pointing out the location of the district in the border of the State and the inconveniences of travelling to Imphal for DIET training.

Meanwhile JIMWAK vice-president Ph Shantibala Devi asserted that DIET Centres have been set up in many districts of Manipur and demanded the same for Jiribam.

She added that when teachers go away to Imphal for DIET training, the students suffer due to shortage of teachers in their respective schools.

As such, she called for the establishment of a DIET Centre in Jiribam in time for the upcoming session.
