Imphal, May 19 2026: The Institute of Manipuri Performing Arts (IMPA), Imphal, observed the 8th Death Anniversary of renowned choreographer (Late) W Lokendrajit Singh at its Rehearsal Hall in Sanjenbam-Sangsabi Makha Leikai, this afternoon.

Late W Lokendrajit, a former choreographer of JNMDA and a Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee, was remembered for his outstanding contributions to Manipuri classical dance.

The event was graced by L Upendro Sharma, former Director, JNMDA; Kh Momon Singh, retired Programme Officer, Art & Culture; and Th Brajabidhu Singh, retired Programme Executive, Doordarshan Kendra Imphal, as presidium members.

Ningthoujam Ajit, visiting gum of IMPA, was also present at the event.

Speakers paid rich tributes to the late choreographer and lauded IMPA's efforts to keep his artistic legacy alive through new productions and commemorative events.

The programme also featured the staging of IMPA's new production, "Radha Anurag", under the Chief Ministergi Artistesinggi Tengbang (CMAT) scheme - of the Department of Art & Culture, Government of Manipur.
