Mastermind among five vehicle lifters held

Manipur police arrested five members of a vehicle lifting gang including a mastermind, a police constable and a VDF jawan, and recovered two stolen Bolero SUVs in the last four days.
A police report said that Khailinii (32) son of Thaipei, and PB Saleo (22) son of Baolisii, both residents of Thinga Khunou, Senapati district were arrested from Senapati district on March 16 along with a stolen white colour Bolero SUV bearing registration number MN05A/4277 by Imphal West district police with the help of Senapati district police.
They have been remanded in police custody till Monday.
On Saturday, police arrested two other members of the gang namely police constable T Lunkhomang Haokip (37) son of T Thangzangam Haokip and VDF jawan K Seithanglien (35) son of K Seilenthang of New Boljang, Churachandpur district from Bishnupur district.
They have been remanded in police custody till March 24 .
The fifth gang member rounded up from Kangpokpi district on Sunday has been identified as Letgoulen Khongsai (24) son of Ngamkhohao Khongsai of M Wa Kothai village but presently staying at Phungtin Veng ward no.15 in Kangpokpi district.
Another stolen white colour Bolero bearing registration number AS01EJ/8670 was recovered from him.
The report further said that after the arrest of the two gang members from Senapati district, the duo revealed Letgoulen Khongsai as the mastermind of the vehicle lifting gang.
Consequently, the same team of Imphal West police team led by SDPO Lamphel, Rahul Gupta along with OC of Lamsang PS inspector Sanjoy planned and executed an operation in the late night of March 18.Letgoulen Khongsai is also a co-accused in a case registered at Lamphel police station and was declared wanted.
A team led by Kangpokpi PS officer in-charge inspector Kh Sunilkumar coordinated with Imphal West team in arresting Letgoulen.
At about 11.55 pm, the police team moved towards the location and arrested him at 12:15 am from a rented house in Phungtin Veng, Ward No.15 in Kangpokpi district, the police report added.
