Imphal, September 15 2025:
A sit-in protest was held today at Singda Kadangband Part 1, objecting to the potential setup ofKuki militant group camps under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) pact at Kharam Vaiphei near Singda Dam due to its proximity to Meitei villages.
Speaking to the media on the sideline, Coordination Committee on Manipur integrity (COCOMI) convenor Khuraijam Athoujam warned that any attempt to establish camps for Kuki militant groups under SoO pact near Meetei villages would trigger widespread agitation.
Nunglepam Bobby, a village committee secretary, said that the Government planning to set up a designated camp for a Kuki militant group at Kharam Vaiphei is unacceptable as it will pose serious risk to inhabitants of Kadangband, Koutruk, Phumlou, Phayeng, etc.
He also said that setting up a SoO camp near Singda Dam won't be the right step.
Stating that they will block the water pipeline if the authorities forcibly set up the camp, Bobby added that they will submit a memorandum to the Governor regarding the matter.
