CEO to attend conference in Delhi

Imphal, January 15 2026:
A team from Manipur led by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) along with three subject experts will participate in the "India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management" to be held in New Delhi from January 21 to January 23, 2026.The conference will be hosted by the Election Commission of India with institutional support from India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM).
Addressing the media at the conference hall of CEO Manipur Office at Lamphel, Lokeshor Brahmacharimayum, MCS, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, shared that the conference will bring together representatives from all 36 States and Union Territories, with India functioning as Chairship of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) under the mandate of the ECI.
With the assistance of IIIDEM, the ECI has assigned specific themes for each participating team.
The CEO, Manipur, has constituted a dedicated thematic group to carry out research and preparatory work on the theme allotted to the State - 'Ease of Political Participation in Voter Registration'.
The three selected scholars are Dr Md Farijudin Khan, Assistant Professor, Dhanamanjuri University; Ng Chinthoibi Chanu, Research Scholar, Manipur University and Tim Haobam, Standing Counsel, Manipur High Court.
According to Lokeshor, after the conference, a report based on the themes presented by the participating teams will be submitted to the ECI .
