Technology demo on 'Silkworm Rearing' held

Imphal, August 14 2026:
A Technology Demonstration Programme on Silkworm Rearing was held at Phayeng Sabal Leikai, Imphal West on Friday as part of the National Mega Sericulture Technology Transfer Campaign, "Mera Resham, Mera Abhiman 2.0" .
The programme was jointly organised by the Central Silk Board (CSB), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, and the Department of Sericulture, Imphal West, to sensitise farmers and stakeholders on improved technologies and best practices in silkworm rearing.
The session was led by Dr Thangjam Ranjita Devi, Scientist-C, Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute (CSRTI), Berhampore, West Bengal, CSB, and H Lakshmi, Assistant Director, Department of Sericulture (DoS), Imphal West, along with other DoS officials.
Under the campaign, similar programmes have already been conducted at the District Sericulture Office, Imphal West, Samurou Circle, Khurkhul, Laphupat Tera and Komlakhong.
More awareness and technology-transfer programmes are scheduled across different sericulture belts of Imphal West in the coming days.
Officials said the campaign aims to boost silk production by disseminating the latest technologies, strengthening grassroots-level activities, and enhancing productivity for sustainable sericulture in the region.
