Bishnupur, August 12 2026:
The All Bishnupur District Working Journalist Union (ABDWJU) has welcomed and expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, Council of Ministers and officials of the Manipur Government for approving the allotment of land for construction of a Press Club building in Bishnupur district.
In a statement, the ABDWJU, an affiliated body of the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU), said the decision was approved during the State Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday.
The union said the absence of a Press Club in Bishnupur had caused difficulties for people, particularly those from remote villages, who had to travel to Imphal to hold press conferences and highlight issues concerning their areas.
It also pointed out that journalists working in the district, who play an important role in disseminating accurate and timely information to the public, often face difficulties in finding a suitable place for rest meetings and discussions.
In view of these difficulties, the union said the Government's decision to allot land for construction of a Press Club building was a welcome step.
The ABDWJU also expressed gratitude to all individuals and authorities who contributed to and facilitated the process of allotting land for the proposed Press Club.
