Thoubal, August 12 2024:
A fawn rescued from Phanjakhong under Thoubal district was handed over to People for Animals, Manipur and Forest Beat Office Mayai Keithel yesterday.
According to a statement issued by L Biswajeet Meitei, managing trustee, PFA Manipur, the residents of Phanjakhong discovered a lone female fawn on their way to fetch firewood.
Fearing that other animals might attack the young doe, the locals brought it back to the village.
The villagers informed Arambai Tenggol Unit 2, who in turn immediately shared the information with PFA, Manipur and Forest Beat Office Mayai Keithel.
A joint team of PFA Manipur and BO collected the young deer from the office of Arambai Tenggol Unit 2 yesterday in the presence of honorary Wildlife Warden Thoubal W Ramchandra.
The fawn is currently being raised on bottled milk at PFA Manipur shelter as it cannot consume any solid foods yet.
