Volunteers clean Palace Road ahead of 'Kang'

Imphal, July 12 2026: Ahead of the Kang (Rath Jatra), volunteers from relief camps and various departments conducted a cleanliness drive along Konung Lambi, Palace Road, on Sunday morning.

The initiative was organised in view of the annual festival and the displacement caused by the ongoing crisis in Manipur.

Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservation K Debabrata Sharma, IPS officers Dr S Ibomcha, Polem Manjit, Kh Sarma and other officials joined the volunteers from relief camps in the drive.

Speaking to the media, K Joychandra Sharma, member of the Brahma Sabha of Shri Shri Govindaji Temple Board, said this year's Rath Jatra will begin on July 16 .

He appreciated the participation of officials and citizens in cleaning the Konung Lambi with support from volunteers affected by the crisis.

He urged the public to take part in the festival and make it successful.
