Imphal, July 12 2014 : A book titled "Writing TRUTH TO POWER" by Seram Neken was formally released by Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West, K Radhakumar at the Literary Hall of Hueiyen Lanpao, Sega Road Thouda Bhabok Leikai here on Saturday.

K.Radhakumar, Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West district and Thoudam Imomacha, former Broadcaster of AIR Imphal attended the book releasing function as chief guest and president respectively.

Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, Associate Professor of JNU, New Delhi and N Ibungochoubi, Executive Editor of Manipur Mail presented critical appreciation of the book to the gathering.

Introducing Seram Neken's 'Writing TRUTH TO POWER', N Ibungochoubi said Manipur is an issue-infested land and such a situation naturally encourages many to write issue-based books and articles.

As a columnist of Hueiyen Lanpao (English edition), Seram Neken has been tirelessly writing methodical articles on different issues confronting the State, Ibungochoubi said.

He said that writing articles for newspapers basically aims at showing and analyzing the real responsibility of a good citizen, besides guiding the public on the right way and finding faults of the Government and bringing them in the public domain.

Dr.Angomcha Bimol Akoijam maintained that the art of writing has no limit, and that every writer can express his or her idea in a free will.

He observed that newspapers and columnists play a great role in bringing peace and prosperity in a society through their critical and analytical writings.

Dr Bimol suggested that the public should clearly digest all the articles published in dailies and criticize them or express their own views and opinions openly.

In Manipur, he went on to observe, the Government as well as the people overlook newspaper articles.

"It's not a good sign," he added.

Thoudam Imomacha, former news reader of All India Radio, Imphal, who presided over the function, categorically mentioned the role of newspaper columnists in bringing about social awareness.

K Radhakumar observed that the book which was released today was an indication on how the columnists react to the issues and problems in the society and provoked the reading public to think over.

The book, 'Writing TRUTH TO POWER' authored by Seram Neken is a collection of his articles that have been published in Hueiyen Lanpao (English edition) and other online journals.

The columnist has already written two such books, 'State, Society & Governance' in 2012 and 'Voice of the voiceless' in 2013 .
