State Mental Hospital construction nearly complete: Health Director

The construction of the State Mental Hospital is expected to be completed very soon and is likely to be inaugurated early next year, said Health Director Dr Nongthombam Hemantakumar today.
He said this while attending the "World Mental Health Day" organised by the Directorate of Health Services Manipur and National Mental Health Programme, National Health Mission, Manipur at Hotel Imolesh, Old Lambulane.
The observance was held under the theme "Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change".
Speaking on the occasion, the Director stressed the importance of treating patients with care and urged healthcare providers to work with dedication and sincerity.
Stating good communication is key to delivering good care and treatment, he said those in the healthcare, medical profession should assess the conditions of the patients completely and patiently hear their grievances.
He stressed that doctors and nurses should treat mentally challenged individuals with good care.
Informing that the construction of the State Mental Hospital is nearing completion and it may be inaugurated early next year, the Director stated that the hospital, when functional, will be a great asset for the State.
He also informed that construction and improvement of Super Specialty Hospitals in districts are going on in full swing.
Best performing mental health teams were encouraged with cash awards and certificates at the event.
Family Welfare Director Dr N Bino and officials of several departments attended the event.
