DoRD Director visits Imphal East to assess VB-G RAM G readiness

As part of nationwide preparations for the rollout of Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) [VB-G RAM G], Ramaavatar Meena, Director, Department of Rural Development (DoRD), Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, visited Imphal East district on July 9, 2026 .
He was accompanied by Sankhil, RL Section Officer, DoRD.
During the visit, a comprehensive review meeting was held with Dr N Johnson Meetei, District Programme Coordinator, and Block Development Officers/Programme Officers of Imphal East.
Discussions focused on institutional readiness, awareness generation, capacity building of field functionaries, verification and updating of beneficiary records, technical preparedness of the Management Information System (MIS), and convergence planning with Gram Panchayats.
Dr Johnson briefed the team on the district's performance under the erstwhile MGNREGS, including person-days generated, e-KYC coverage, Yuktdhara monitoring, and timely wage payments.
Ramaavatar Meena stressed the need for completing all pre-rollout activities within the stipulated timeline for a seamless transition to VB-G RAM G.He underlined Gram Panchayat-level implementation plans, transparency and accountability, timely e-KYC and worker database completion, and better coordination among district, block and GP functionaries.
The team also inspected Khurai Khaidem Leikai and Khurai Chingangbam Leikai GPs under Heingang CD Block, arid Waiton and Sawombung under Sawombung CD Block.
The Director reviewed ongoing works, technical manpower, record maintenance, digital infrastructure and community participation.
He suggested measures to improve implementation quality, ensure timely wages, strengthen social audits, and boost public awareness.
Officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensure Imphal East is fully prepared for the effective implementation of VB-G RAM G .
