Jiribam, June 10 2025:
Representatives of Manipuri Kanba Lup (MAKAL), Cachar, Assam have donated a sum of Rs 15,000 to Maibam Samar who was physically assaulted by suspected Kuki miscreants at Kotlen on May 27 .
Maibam Samar, who hails from Assam, reportedly worked under a railway construction company in Manipur.
On the unfortunate day, the unidentified miscreants instructed Samar to disembark from his vehicle and allegedly asked if he was a Meitei.
Upon confirming his identity as a Meitei, he was taken to a house and thrashed by the suspected Kuki miscreants.
After being rescued and receiving treatment at RIMS Hospital, he returned home to Hingla in Sribhumi district.
The MAKAL team personally visited Maibam Samar at Hingla and handed a sum of Rs 15,000 to him after enquiring about his health and recovery.
The aid initiative was jointly organised by Hingla Meira Paibi Lup and Dargarband Development Committee at Hingla Community Hall.
The MAKAL team consisted of Arambam Nandababu ACS, Dr KN Chand, Sougaijam Subatnkar, Seram Herajit, Laishram Ranjit, M Meicha Devi and Khambaton Singha among others.
It is worth noting that MAKAL has also donated a sum of Rs 50,000 to the wife of Laishram Kamalbabu who remains missing till date.
