The number of educated unemployed persons is increasing like flood water in the state.
The number has reached to 6,34,310 as registered with the state employment exchange till October 2008, the latest compiled report available.
Categorically analysis to the number of the educated unemployed persons, persons with qualification with under-matric and matriculation certificates have the highest number.
Imphal west district has the highest number of job seekers.
According to the report from the state employment exchange, the number of educated unemployed persons registered till October 31, 2008 was 6,34,310 which is 27.65 percent of the total population of the state.
It was 5,73,332 in 2006.Out of the total unemployed persons, 4,60,374 are male while the remaining 1,73,940 is the female.
Even though Manipur is economically and industrially backward, the rate of the literacy is high with 70.5 percent against the national rate of Rs 65.38 percent.
Analyst report indicated that higher the literacy rate, the increase id the number of unemployed persons in the state.
Observers opined important factors behind the increase in the number of unemployed persons are lack of development in industries and no contribution from the economic service sectors.
Other factors contributing to the increase of unemployed are continuous imposition of recruitment in the government service from the last around 10 years, non-improvement to the road communication, power, health, education system etc.
