Imphal, January 09 2009: MANIPUR GOVERNMENT will insist the 13th Finance Commission delegation visiting the state on January 21 and 22 to award Rs.25,000 crores out of which Rs.4,000 for providing Centres' revised sixth pay structures to its employees.

Authority here is preparing to submit a memorandum proposing allocation of Rs 25,000 crores during the 13th finance commission period, an official said Friday.

Of the total Rs 25,000 crores proposal, the official added it includes Rs 4,000 crores for provision of 6th pay commission to its employees who are currently on cease-work strike.

The preparation of the memorandum is on hectic process with officials of the concern departments to finalize the memorandum well ahead of the visit of the delegation.

The delegations of the 13th finance commission, as per the tentative programme received by the state government, will arrive at Imphal from Kohima (Nagaland) by helicopter or by road on January 20.Whether the delegation will proceed by helicopter or by road will be decided later according to convenient of the time.

The delegation will hold meeting with state chief minister, O Ibobi and state government officials on the January 21 at the Banquet hall of the Raj Bhavan at 10 am.

Another round of meeting with the representatives of the local bodies, political parties and trade and industries is schedule to hold at 2.30 pm of the same day.

As per the tentative programme, on the next on January 22, the delegation will conduct field visit at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Kangla and Loktak lake and on the same day they will left Imphal for Kolkata for their onward visit to other states.

With regard to the implementation of the pay structures recommended by the Sixth Pay Commission, employees of the Manipur government under the banner of the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) have been on cease-work strike since around one and a half month back.

The strike entered 44 days today but there is no sign of ending the same as both the government and striking employees remaining stick to their stands and no talk for negotiation to the strike initiated.

Government seems to be neglect the strike since employees of the main administrative units, Manipur secretariat services are yet to join the strike.
