Curtain Raiser Rally for Imphal Book Fair held

Imphal, December 07 2025:
A Curtain Raiser Rally in connection with the 32nd Imphal Book Fair 2025 was held on Sunday.
Organised jointly by the State Central Library, Imphal along with the District Libraries and the Department of Art ' and Culture, Government of Manipur, in partnership with the Manipur Library Association (MALA) and various NGOs operating public libraries, the rally was flagged off from the State Central Library Campus in Imphal by Dr RK Urmila, Chief Librarian, State Central Library.
The two-wheeler rally started from the campus and moved towards Mayai Lambi, Pishumthong, Singjamei, Wangkhei, Minuthong, Nagamapal and concluded at the same campus.
Speaking at the event, Dr RK Urmila said, "Amidst the present uncertainty and continuous challenges in the State, it has become more important for us to focus more on constructive and enriching activities" .
She asserted that reading books offers a sense of stability, hope and intellectual strength and provides comfort, guidance and a positive mind, especially to the students and youth.
Today's curtain raiser aimed to raise awareness about the importance of reading and encourage the public to engage with books and learning.
The book fair will be held from December 15 to 24, 2025 .
