State level 'Operation Abhyaas' held

A state-level mock drills under the provision of Section 19 of the Civil Defence Rules, 1968, titled "Operation Abhyaas" were conducted simultaneously on Wednesday evening at Johnston Higher Secondary School, State Museum, BT Park, Polo Ground (Mapal Kangjeibung), and Directorate of Fire Service in Imphal as well as in Tengnoupal, Churachandpur, Ukhrul and Bishnupur districts.
Similar mock drills were conducted in 244 categorised civil defence districts across the country.
Imphal West deputy commissioner Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh conducted both pre- and post-media briefings related to the mock drill held earlier in the day.
In his address, the deputy commissioner urged the public to remain calm, composed, and resilient when faced with hostile situations or unforeseen emergencies, as well as in their daily lives.
Rajkumar extended his appreciation to all stakeholders for their cooperation during the exercise and emphasised the importance of continuous awareness and preparedness.
He also called for sustained collaboration among all parties to effectively manage and respond to such eventualities in the future.
The drill simulated the scenario of an air raid and was jointly carried out by the Fire Department, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Health Department, Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL), Civil Defence, educational institutions, the State Museum, and the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).
The exercise featured air raid warning sirens, public address announcements by the police, fire engine sirens, blackout protocols, and rescue operations.
It included search and rescue efforts, evacuation of civilians from affected areas, casualty evacuation from damaged structures, the setting up of temporary medical facilities, and relocation of civilians to bunkers.
Civilians were also trained in basic civil defence techniques to enhance preparedness in the event of a hostile attack.
The primary objective of "Operation Abhyaas" was to evaluate and strengthen the state s emergency response capabilities during air raid scenarios.
Dignitaries, officials, staff members, personnel, students from various universities, Colleges and schools, NCC cadets, and other stakeholders actively participated in and extended their full cooperation during the mock drill.
As part of the exercise, the deputy commissioner also sought and considered feedback and opinions from the participating stakeholders.
BISHNUPUR: Civil Defence Mock Drill named 'Operation Abhyass' was conducted at Ningthoukhong Higher Secondary School, on Wednesday under the joint supervision of Bishnupur DC Lourembam Bikram and SP Kshetrimayum Ravikumar.
The mock drill was participated by officials and personnel of Fire Service (Bishnupur) MSPDCL (Bishnupur), Home Guard, IRCS members, Aapda Mitra volunteers, Health Department, and ZEO Bishnupur.
Addressing students present on the occasion, DC Bikram highlighted that such exercises are vital for ensuring an effective and swift response during emergency situations.
He also encouraged the students to share the knowledge gained with their families, friends, and communities.
SP Ravikumar also interacted with the participants, underlining that the mock drill is a proactive step toward preparing for unforeseen disasters.
He advised the students to remain calm in case of actual emergencies and to apply the lessons learned from the drill when necessary.
