'Partnership dharma practised in state'

Imphal, February 07 2022: The dharma of partnership, as practised in the centre by the NDA-led coalition government, is also being followed in the state, said Works minister Th Biswajit.

Speaking to newspersons after filing his nomination paper to the RO at Imphal East DC Complex on Monday, Biswajit maintained that the partnership dharma of the NDA government entails that once a partnership is formed, it does not matter how many parties are involved but the dharma of partnership remains unbroken.

The same is also upheld in the state, he added.

"It is the nature of some people to say whatever they want as long as it ensures the victory of his/her own party.

This is nothing to be upset about it.

Many of the intending BJP candidates who failed to get the party ticket, have worked to deliver the various government schemes to the people.

Their contributions in their respective constituencies will always be a part of the party.

It is by taking all of these into consideration that the party has set a target of winning over 40 seats in the upcoming polls.

Thus, the words spoken by BJP chief spokesperson Ch Bijoy could be due to anger.

He has been a party leader for a long time," Biswajit said, while expressing belief that Bijoy will not do anything harmful to the party.

Responding to a question on whether a chief ministerial candidate has been decided for the BJP, the works minister said that BJP has many senior members and every decision is made unanimously as a custom of the party.

Thus, the party elders will likely take a decision that is favourable to all, he added.

Regarding Congress' election manifesto, he statedthat he does not want to make any negative comment.

BJP's gift to the state would be the implementation of ILPS and renaming of Mt Harriet in Andaman and Nicobar Islands to Mt Manipur.

Thus, BJP will form the state government again, he contended, while adding that he does not have the authority to speculate whether it will be a coalition government or not.

Biswajit was accompanied by his toddler kid along with party workers.

Earlier in the day, minister Biswajit took to his Twitter handle and said, "I am filing my nomination from Thongju constituency today, with the divinely blessings of Almighty and my father.

Let's together build a new Manipur! Seeking your blessings!" .

The nomination papers from the candidates will be received till February 8 and scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on February 9 .

The last date for withdrawal of candidature is on February 11 .

Manipur will go to polls in two phases on February 27 and March 3 .

The counting of votes and declaration of result is on March 10 .
