Imphal, August 05 2026:
Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) has announced a major system improvement initiative involving the replacement of existing bare 11 kV conductors with Medium Voltage Covered Conductors (MVCC) in parts of Imphal West.
To facilitate the safe execution of infrastructure erection, stringing and commissioning works, MSPDCL said temporary power interruptions will be necessary.
Consumers in the affected areas have been requested to bear with the inconvenience during the scheduled shutdowns.
Details of the affected locations and shutdown timings will be notified separately through concerned MSPDCL Division and Sub-Division offices and other official channels.
The shutdown schedule will also be updated on the company's official website www.mspdcl.in.
According to MSPDCL, the replacement of bare conductors with MVCC will bring several benefits.
These include improved reliability and quality of power supply, reduction in interruptions caused by tree branches and external contacts, enhanced public safety by minimizing the risk of electric shocks, fewer line faults and technical losses, and better resilience during storms and heavy winds.
The upgrade will also reduce maintenance needs and enable faster restoration during faults.
MSPDCL stated that the project is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the distribution network and ensure a safer, more reliable electricity supply across Manipur.
The company expressed regret for the inconvenience and sought public cooperation.
