Imphal, August 05 2025: A man who had entered a "restricted buffer zone" between Chandel and Kakching district has been rescued and safely handed over to local law enforcement authorities, said the Assam Rifles in a statement released today.

The man, from Chandel had entered the "restricted area along the inter-district boundary between Chandel and Kakching district" on a two-wheeler vehicle, before he was located and rescued, said the Assam Rifles.

"The individual, travelling alone on a two-wheeler from the hill district of Chandel during late evening hours, mistakenly entered a restricted area along the inter-district boundary between Chandel and Kakching.

"Upon receiving timely information, troops from a Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) located the civilian, and was promptly handed over to local law enforcement authorities for further facilitation," said the AR .
