Senapati, March 04 2025:
The Senapati-Phaibung Road Development Committee in a jointmeeting resolved to seek for early completion of road construction that has been delayed formore than23 years.
In a press release from the body, it stated that the Senapati-Phaibung Road Development Committee held an emergency meeting on March 3, 2025 and discussed the long-pending construction of the Senapati-Phaibung Road.
This vital road, sanctioned under the Prime Minister's package in 2000, aims to connect remote villages in Manipur.
However, despite being approved 23 years ago, the project has been neglected by the 25 BRTF (work agency) and the Government of Manipur, said the committee.
The meeting resolved to request the Governor of Manipur to intervene and ensure the road's completion by the 25 BRTF.
The body also demanded that the road be not handed over to the State Government until its official inauguration by the Doner Ministry.
Further, the committee requested the Government of Manipur to release the 10% State share that is due till date.
The committee also urged the concerned authority to halt the construction of a new road that overlaps the existing Senapati-Phaibung Road, which is taking advantage of innocent villagers.
It may be mentioned that the Senapati-Phaibung Road is crucial for the socio-economic development of the poor tribes in the region, providing a vital lifeline of communication in the district.
