Temporary restoration of Tamenglong-Khongsang road begins

Tamenglong, December 03 2015: Temporary repair and restoration of Tamenglong- Khongsang road began on Thursday as two JCB excavators arrived and began filling up potholes and leveling a stretch of the road.

The repair and restoration work began in the presence of Joseph Pauline, Chief Executive Officer ADC Tamenglong and Additional Deputy Magistrate Tamenglong; Sanjoy and Sarvantjit both project managers of National Highway Infrastructure Development Co-operation Ltd.

(NHIDC Ltd.); frontal organization leaders of Tamenglong and the general public at Haipou Jadonnang Park.

Dr Rev N Palmei, Senior Pastor Town Centre Church Tamenglong "dedicated" the task to Almighty God so that the restoration works would progress smoothly.

After Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had accepted e-tender of of M/s Woodhill Infrastructure Limited, an Uttar Pradesh work agency for execution of the temporary restoration of Tamenglong- Khongsang road (NH- 137), about 40 km length on August 6, the process had to be expedited.

The ministry had sanctioned Rs 13,23,91,325 for restoration work since 2012.However, there was not much progress in the work.

Joseph Pauline, while taking part in the ribbon cutting ceremony, expressed gratitude to the local MLA 53- Tamenglong ST/AC Janghemlung Panmei for his efforts to start the works.

He also went on to thank the frontal organisations of Tamenglong for their pressure to commence the work.

Speaking on the occasion, Sanjoy, Manager of NHIDC Ltd said that Woodhill will execute the temporary restoration and National Highway Infrastructure Development Co-operation Ltd will monitor the quality of the work.

He also informed that while the restoring work goes on, the ministry will prepare the Detail Project Detail (DPR) and within two years, the cutting of double lane road will start.

SP Athui, Chairman Zeliangrong Union Tamenglong and Hukhamang, President Chairman Association Tamenglong also spoke on the occasion and assured to full cooperation to the National Highway Infrastructure Development Co-operation Ltd.

They also said that the frontal organisations will keep vigil and check the work quality.

SP Athui also mentioned that people of the district had been demanding that the work be executed by BRO/BRTF as people believed/trust the BRO/BRTF.

He also urged the work agency to put up big signboard about the details ff the fund and work programme.

The officials of National Highway Infrastructure Development Co-operation Ltd and frontal organizations of Tamenglong also held a meeting at PWD IB Tamenglong and discussed about the temporary restoration of the road.
