Workshop highlights RAMP scheme benefits

Imphal, March 02 2026: A State-Level Stakeholder Consultation Workshop focusing on "Interest Subvention for women owned MSEs & Logistics Strengthening for MSMEs" was conducted today at the Imperial Hall, Classic Grande, Imphal.

The workshop was organised by the Directorate of Trade, Commerce & Industries, Government of Manipur, as part of the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative, a collaborative project supported by the World Bank and the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India.

Speaking on the occasion, Ngangbam Roman Singh, Managing Director, MANIDCO, described RAMP as a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing MSME competitiveness, improving access to finance and markets, and strengthening institutional capacity within the State.

He highlighted Manipur's progress under the MSME programme since signing the Letter of Understanding with the Ministry of MSME in November 2022.He also highlighted key achievements, including over 32,000 MSMEs registered on the Udyam portal between April 2025 and February 2026, the launch of the MSME Help Clinic to address enterprise-level challenges, and around 600 MSMEs identified for adopting sustainable green production practices.

While progress has been made, Roman Singh noted that logistics facilitation and digital infrastructure remain priority areas.

He mentioned that the workshop aims to raise awareness about the RAMP scheme's benefits and push for a resilient, inclusive, and globally competitive MSME ecosystem in Manipur.

Kangba Namkoi, State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC) convenor, SBI, emphasized the banking sector's crucial role in implementing the RAMP scheme, particularly for women loan borrowers.

He called for proactive participation from banks and suggested organizing similar awareness programs at district and grassroots levels to ensure benefits reach all eligible borrowers.

Khwairakpam Deepak, Officer on Special Duty (OSD), MSME, highlighted the vital role of MSMEs as engines of employment, innovation, and inclusive growth in Manipur.

He stressed that strengthening MSMEs is central to the State's development efforts, which involve addressing challenges like access to affordable finance and market linkages with support from implementing agencies and financial institutions.

The workshop concluded with presentations on interest subvention for women-owned MSEs and logistics strengthening, followed by an interactive Q&A session.

Officials, bank representatives, and financial institutions attended the programme.
