MUC staff, students protest

Imphal, October 01 2024: The Manipur University of Culture Guest Faculty Association (MUCGFA) and students staged a sit-in protest today demanding appointment of a regular Registrar of the Manipur University of Culture (MUC).

During the sit-in protest at the varsity campus, MUCGFA president B Gopiraman Shanna stated that the person currently holding the post of the Registrar is also holding other posts in various Departments, and as such, he should be removed from his post as Registrar within 5 days.

Gopiraman asserted that the appointment of the current Registrar violates the MUC Act 2015 .

He said a regular Registrar may be appointed from among the regular faculty members or senior administrative staff.

Seeking the attention of the Government and authorities concerned, he also demanded regularisation of 28 guest faculty members of the varsity.

MUC lacks the infrastructure and manpower.

There is no adequate number of rooms for conducting classes.

This should be addressed within a week, he said.

Further, the authorities concerned should appoint regular Finance Officer, Controller of Examination and administrative staff.
