Laikhuram Monika presents 'Jagoi Esheigee Leichal' at JNMDA

Imphal, July 01 2026: Dancer Laikhuram Monika of the Production Unit, JN Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA), presented her solo production 'Jagoi-Esheigee Leichal' today at the academy's auditorium.

Thongju AC MLA Thongam Biswajit, attending as chief guest, said India holds global recognition in dance and music, with Manipuri dance enjoying legendary status.

He noted its distinction lies in its spiritual depth and aesthetic form.

He credited Rajashree Bhagyachandra for elevating Manipuri dance, adding that today's generation must not forget the cultural reforms of forefathers.

He praised Monika's production as a platform to showcase her artistic skill and urged all to recognise the message and responsibility it carries for promoting the art.

Explaining the work, Monika said the production blends devotional songs from Shri Shri Govindaji's hari sankritan instituted by Rajashree Bhagyachandra with traditional Manipuri heritage, rhythm, and ancestral musical traditions passed down through generations.

JNMDA Director Pukhrambam Bilash presided over the programme, while Arts and Culture Joint Director Minashree Mairembam attended as guest of honour.

Noted artiste Dona Ngairangbam, popularly known as Pena Dona, supported Monika in presenting 'Jagoi-Esheigee Leichal' .
