Imphal, October 31 2010: Chief minister of Manipur, O Ibobi has greeted the people of Manipur, especially the Kuki-Chin-Mizo brethren on the occasion of Kut festival to be celebrated tomorrow.

In a message of greetings, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that Kut festival is an occasion of thanksgiving to the Almighty God for the bountiful harvest.

The spirit of Kut is all about sharing, understanding, harmonious coexistence, cooperation and merriment.

He said, the Kut festival would not only be a binding force to keep the people of Manipur closer but a platform to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Kuki-Chin-Mizo people.

The best way to celebrate festivals like Kut is is to strive for building a harmonious society and work for strengthening the bond of amity.

"May Kut festival bring peace, prosperity and unity in the state," the Chief Minister said adding that he joins the people of Manipur in the celebration of Kut.

MPCC president, Gaikhangam, in his message of greetings to the people of Manipur, especially the Kuki-Chin-Mizo brethren, said, "May the festival bring a Manipur where people of all communities of Manipur live together with love and brotherhood, peace and prosperity without any bloodshed and violence" .

Meanwhile, Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya has also greeted the people of Manipur, particularly the Kuki-Chin-Mizo brethren on the occasion of the Kut festival.

"May the festival usher in an era of love, peace, happiness, prosperity and communal harmony in Manipur," Dr Meinya said.

United Committee Manipur (UCM) and Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) have also extended heartiest greetings to the Kuki-Chin-Mizo brethren on occasion of Kut festival.

Both organisations, in separate messages, wished that the festival would bring a peaceful, harmonious, prosperous, joyous and accommodative era in Manipur.

Meanwhile, the Kuki National Organisation(KNO) has conveyed warm greetings to all sections of the community on the eve of KUT, 2010 .

Secretary, Information & Publicity (KNO), TK Simte said in a message, "On this joyous occasion, the biggest and post-harvest festival of all the CHIKIMIZ (Chin-Kuki-Mizo-Zomi), the KNO hopes and envisions that KUT, 2010 may bring everlasting peace and harmony in the State" .

"As KUT entails a day of 'thanksgivings' to the Almighty God for His abundant blessings, the KNO appeals to all sections of the community to shun the path of violence, enmity and hatred; and choose the path of peace and non-violence for the overall development and prosperity in the State.

May the celebration of Kut, 2010 give you peace and harmony," the KNO said.
