Moirang, December 30 2025:
The Moirang Bazar Board has appealed to concerned individuals and organisations to refrain from imposing what he described as unbearable monetary demands on shopkeepers and business owners operating at Moirang Bazar, warning that continued pressure could lead to protests, including indefinite closure of shops.
In a statement issued by the Bazar Board secretary, it was stated that if such demands continue, the Moirang Bazar may be compelled to launch agitation, including shutting down shops indefinitely, as shopkeepers are finding it increasingly difficult to continue their business under the prevailing conditions.
The statement further noted that since the outbreak of the violence in the State on May 3, 2023, the Moirang Bazar Board has been contributing whatever possible to support village volunteers and has remained committed to collective efforts during the crisis.
However, the secretary said that the alleged provocation through repeated and excessive monetary demands on Moirang Bazar shopkeepers has created a situation where many are unable to open their establishments.
Appealing for restraint, the Moirang Bazar Board urged all concerned to not impose such financial burdens on shopkeepers and Board members.
The statement cautioned that failure to heed the appeal may force the Board to intensify agitation, including closure of shops, to safeguard the livelihood of traders at Moirang Bazar.
