Imphal, August 30 2024:
With reference to the Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) and Kuki Inpi planning nationwide rallies on August 31 and protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar in pursuance of the demand for union territory, Manipur Meitei Association, Bangalore (MMAB) has cautioned that the rallies aimed at amplifying relentless false narratives by the Kuki organisations and malicious allegations against the government will only incite enmity, undermine peace initiatives and potentially trigger more violence.
Urging authorities concerned to look into the matter and take up appropriate steps to stop the rally, the MMAB submitted a memorandum addressed to Home Minister Amit Shah, specifying that the rallies centred on unfounded allegations have the potential to draw international attention and media scrutiny, possibly even targeting the Prime Minister and the Home Minister of India.
Pointing out that the on-going unrest situation in Manipur is primarily due to mass illegal Kuki immigration and targeted attacks by Kuki militant groups against the state and innocent civilians, the memorandum assured that MMAB along with many other organisations and the government is working relentlessly towards restoration of peace.
As such, MMAB organised the 'Fields of Hope' sports event to unite corpmunities from Manipur and promote peace in the region, it reasoned.
