GIS-based master plan workshop held for development of Nambol town

A consultative workshop on the Geographical Information System (GlS)-based Master Plan for Nambol Town under AMRUT 2.0 was held today at Public Theatre Hall, Nambol Chingmang, with stakeholders deliberating on future development strategies for the town.
The workshop was attended by MLA of Konthoujam Assembly Constituency Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh, MLA of Nambol Assembly Constituency Th Basantakumar Singh, Caretaker Chairperson of Nambol Municipal Council Chingakham Basanta Singh, Chief Town Planner of Town Planning Department (TPD) Nongthombam Benju Singh, member of the High Level Committee on Urban Planning India Nepram Geetkumar Singh, and Senior Executive Officer of Nambol Municipal Council Th Rabindra, who played a key role in organising the programme.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, MLA Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh stressed the need for detailed deliberation and proper planning before taking up developmental projects in Nambol.
He said that Nambol Bazar, being located close to the upcoming railway project and airport, has great potential for growth and requires focused development in areas such as healthcare, water supply and connectivity.
He pointed out that Nambol Bazar serves as a hub for people from Nambol, Oinam, Konthoujam and Wangoi constituencies, and emphasised the need to adopt a long-term vision to ensure sustainable development.
MLA Th Basantakumar Singh said that the workshop was aimed at planning for future generations and transforming Nambol into a well-developed town over the next two decades.
He stressed the importance of collective discussions and forward-looking planning.
He also highlighted the need for a proper solid and liquid waste management system by 2047, when India completes 100 years of Independence.
He suggested incorporating earthquake-resistant buildings, an organised parking system, development of a ring road project, improved sports infrastructure, construction of SDO and BDO offices, and a flyover project to ease traffic congestion at Nambol Bazar in the master plan.
He added that plans made today would shape the development of tomorrow and urged all stakeholders to work together for the progress of the town.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of Nambol Municipal Council Th Rabindra appealed to clubs, Meira Paibi groups, civil society organisations and intellectuals to actively participate in preparing the master plan and contribute suggestions for shaping the future of Nambol Bazar over the next 20 years.
