Two-day Yelhou Sheihek Sheida Sheidinnaba kicks off

Kakching, October 26 2024: The Laipham Pana Liklai Loishang kicked off a two-day Yelhou Sheihek Sheida Sheidinnaba competition and inaugurated its newly constructed meeting hall at Kakching Thumkhongmang Hidaktha Konchin (Chingol) along Kakching Phunal Road today.

Notable dignitaries present at the event include Deputy Commissioner, Chandel, Mayanglambam Rajkumar (IAS) as the chief guest and Dr Naorem Munal Meitei, Assistant Conservator of Forest, Chandel Forest Division as the functional president.

Addressing the gathering, the Chandel Deputy Commissioner stressed on the importance of knowing one's culture, tradition and origin.

Highlighting the need to preserve one's customs, he said that a community risks being wiped out when it is completely disconnected from its culture and tradition.

Thus he advocated for more competitions like today's Yelhou Sheihek Sheida Sheidinnaba for the preservation of culture.

Twenty nine artists between the ages of 5 and 18 years are participating in the competition.
