Imphal, June 26 2024:
Health & Family Welfare minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh, on Wednesday inaugurated the newly established Trevi Hospital and Research Institute, at Langol Laimanai, Imphal West district.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ranjan, appreciated the Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) scheme initiated by the chief minister N Biren to ensure cashless medical treatment to the people of the state.
He mentioned that the name 'Trevi' is originally a fountain in Rome which is a wishing well, where people pray for better health and prosperity.
He added that the name suits well with the hospital as everyone who comes here will be fit and fine.
The minister also conceded that the government is aware about challenges of expenses faced by the people in medical treatments and asserted that the government is making efforts to ensure that the health scheme reaches more beneficiaries.
Stating that Trevi Hospital will give a commendable service to the people, he mentioned that CMHT card holders can avail cashless medical care.
"It is truly a boon for the people," minister Ranjan said.
He further pointed out that in Manipur, there are enough qualified doctors, who have previously worked in respectable institution like AIIMS, but people still have the tendency to go outside the state for treatment.
Dr Ranjan expressed wonder whether the same is because the public do not trust the medical practitioners or if they have the ideology of 'the grass is greener on the other side of the fence' .
He asserted that it is high time for the people to change the trend of going outside the state for treatments and expressed belief that the hospital will provide immense service to the patients and the people in general.
Dr Ranjan also launched the website of the multi-speciality hospital during the programme.
The event was attended by Trevi Hospital chairman and managing director Dr RK Bikramjit Singh, and RIMS Medicine Oncology former HoD Dr L Jaychand Singh, among others.
