"Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" tree plantation drive held

Imphal, June 25 2025:
In a significant initiative combining environmental sustainability with emotional and educational values, a tree plantation drive under the theme, "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" and the "Creation of a Miyawaki Micro Forest" was held today at Santhok Ningthou Apanba Khubam, Chanam Sandrok, Imphal East district.
The event was jointly organised by the Zonal Education Office, Zone-II, Imphal East, 86 Battalion CRPF, Lamphelpat, Imphal East District Administration, and the Department of Education (S)/Samagra Shiksha, Manipur, said a release issued by CRPF.
The plantation drive was participated by L Rameshwor Meitei, MLA Keirao AC; Dr Nivedita Lairenlakpam, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East; Dr N Johnson Meetei, Additional Deputy Commissioner; Laishram Roshan, Additional Deputy Commissioner; M Premchandra Singh, SDO Keirao Bitra; Haobam Nomita, Zonal.
Education Officer, Zone-II; Lourembam Rebika, District Coordinator Youth and Eco Club; and officers of 86 Battalion CRPF, Lamphelpat.
The plantation drive was carried out using the Miyawaki method, which promotes dense, native forest growth in a short period.
The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, CRPF personnel, and local residents, creating a vibrant atmosphere of community engagement.
More than 300 saplings were planted during the plantation drive.
The collaborative effort reflected the united commitment of educational institutions, civil administration, and security forces to environmental conservation and emotional values rooted in Indian culture.
