Abducted factory manager shot, woman worker rescued

Imphal, May 25 2024:
The manager of Paonam Brojen Singh (PBS) Ply Factory, who had been reportedly abducted by unknown individuals on Friday night, was found shot on his leg on Saturday.
The manager, identified as Sahid Farooque Jamal from Assam, was found injured near Charangpat in Thoubal district on Saturday afternoon.
A female worker from the same factory, also abducted by the same unknown individuals, was successfully rescued by the police.
Police source said that Sahid Farooque Jamal, currently residing at the PBS Ply Factory located in Wangjing Sabal Leikai, suffered gunshot wounds on his right thigh and calf.
Jamal and a 27-year-old female worker, referred to as Roshni (not her real name), were forcibly taken by the armed assailants on Friday night.
Upon receiving information about Jamal lying injured near Charangpat, a Thoubal police team promptly reached the location and took him to a nearby health centre where he was provided first aid.
He was later referred to Raj Medicity in Imphal for further treatment.
A case has been registered at Yairipok Police Station, and investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, a joint team fof Thoubal district commando and Khongjom Police Station conducted search and rescue operation in Charangpat area, leading to successful rescue of the abducted woman worker.
Investigation is going to establish identify and arrest the perpetrators involved.
