Imphal, February 24 2025:
The special meeting of BJP legislators planned Monday to discuss the political uncertainty in the state has been postponed until further notice.
The meeting was scheduled to begin from 2pm at the private residence of Patsoi MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor (Keba) .
However, joint conveners -MLAs Kh Ibomcha of Lamlai and K Robindro Singh of Mayang Imphal, issued a notification postponing the meeting few hours before the scheduled time.
The notification cited out of station of some MLAs on medical grounds and some others on unavoidable circumstances for postponement of the meeting.
However, a source informed that the meeting was postponed after BJP central leaderships informed party's state leaders not to conduct any meeting of BJP legislators while President's Rule is in force and even issued strict warning against convening such a meeting.
Notably, some BJP legislators met BJP state president A Sharda Devi on February 20 and urged her to arrange a meeting for discussing the prevailing political situation in the state in the wake of resignation of N Biren Singh as the CM and subsequent imposition of President's Rule.
However, Sharda did not convene any formal meeting for legislators.
Another source informed that some BJP legislators including former ministers are in New Delhi since late Sunday evening.
