Aryan Theatre celebrates 90th foundation day

Imphal, September 23 2025: The 90th foundation day of Aryan Theatre was observed today at the grounds of Yumjao Lairembi in Wahengbam Leikai today.

The event was attended by Munish Ningthoujam, Zonal Director, Indian Council for Cultural Relations; G Darmadas, Joint Director, Art and Culture department and other eminent personalities from the world of theatre.

Floral tributes were offered to deceased artists at the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Aryan Theatre president A Shyamkrishna has underscored the need to upgrade the theatre which has produced many notable artists and represented Manipur in the global stage.

He stated that the contribution of artists in bringing social transformations and being a source of pride for the State should not be forgotten.

However, he expressed grief that the contributions of Aryan Theatre over 90 years of its existence in promoting theatrical art appear to be overlooked.

As a result, he stressed on the need for budding artists and the relevant State department to work together to breathe new life into the 90-year old Aryan Theatre.
