Eviction drive conducted at Telipati

Imphal, June 22 2026: District administration Imphal East carried out eviction drive at Khurai Telipati amid strong opposition from the locals today.

The drive began early this morning with the deployment of a large number of security forces to effect the drive and prevent untoward incidents.

A large number of residents of Telipati came out of their homes and disrupted the operation, resulting in a confrontation with the security forces and officials of the district administration.

While the eviction drive paused for some time, the local MLA arrived at the spot to take stock of the situation and resolve the dispute.

The MLA's intervention didn't calm the situation, but the drive continued using excavators and heavy machinery to remove all illegal structures including shops.
