PREPAK (Pro) cadre held, 17 bombs seized

Imphal, June 22 2013 : Along with the arrest of an active member of PREPAK (Pro) cadre, Thoubal police Commandos have recovered 17 Chinese made grenades.

According to a statement issued by SP of Thoubal Dr AK Jhalajit Singh, acting on reliable information about the presence of PREPAK (Pro) cadres in the general area of Heirok, Commandos of District Police, Thoubal conducted a search operation today.

During the course of the operation, one suspected youth was detained for verification.

On verification, the youth who identified himself as Thokchom Janel Singh (28) s/o Th Modhu Singh of Heirok Part-II Devi Mandop Leikai disclosed that he an active member of PREPAK (Pro) and 17 Chinese made hand grenades were kept concealed in the house of one Laishram Ibungo Singh of Heirok Part-II Devi Mandop Leikai.

One Nokia mobile handset having Voda SIM card no.9774079581 was also seized from his possession and he was arrested at around 2.30 pm.

Soon after that, the Commandos raided the house of Laishram Ibungo Singh (36) s/o late Bheigya Singh of Heirok Part-II Devi Mandop Leikai and found 17 hand grenades from the rice granary of the house.

Ibungo was also arrested and one Kechaoda mobile hand set with two SIM cards, one of Voda bearing no.9774878030 and the other of Aircel bearing no.8575298819 were seized from his possession.

On questioning, Ibungo disclosed that the hand grenades so recovered were delivered to him by Laihram Mainu Singh (34) s/o L Janmanjoy Singh of Heirok Part-II Devi Mandop Leikai.

Accordingly, the commandos raided the house of Maimu as well and arrested him.

Maimu disclosed that the hand grenades were given to him by one Moirangthem Inaobi alias Rocky (32) s/o Jambu Singh of Heirok Part-II Devi Mandop Leikai, who is a S/S District Commander and Finance Secretary of PREPAK (Pro) to carry out extortions and other prejudicial activities, the SP informed.

The SP further informed that two cadres of PULF (Keshorjit and Chandro faction) identified as Md Sirajur Rahaman (27) s/o late Md Siraj Ahamed of Lilong Yangbi Leikai and Md Alaudin alias Iboyai (38) s/o Md Abdul Ali of Lilong Turel Ahanbi were also arrested by the District Police Commandos at around 10.30 am today.

One A-Star car bearing registration no.WB-068/1843 was seized from the possession of Md Sirajur Rahaman, the SP added.
