Imphal, April 22 2026:
A sit-in protest was held today at Luwangsangbam Awang Leikai to condemn a gun attack on the residence of a local teacher by unidentified miscreants.
The attack reportedly took place on Tuesday night around 8:30 pm at the house of Loitongbam Milanjit, a mathematics teacher at Padma Higher Secondary School, Sekmai.
Milanjit also runs coaching classes for Class 10 and 12 students at his home.
Speaking at the protest site, Milanjit's wife, Loitongbam Robita, expressed her deep distress and confusion.
She stated that the family has no known enmity with anyone and is unaware of any reason why they would be targeted.
"If there is any misunderstanding or issue, it should be settled through dialogue and peaceful means.
Violence only brings fear", she said, demanding that those responsible clarify their motives.
Mangshatabam Leima, secretary of Luwangsangbam Apunba Meira Paibi, condemned the firing in a densely populated area and called it a cowardly act that endangers lives.
The protest concluded with a collective appeal to all parties to refrain from such acts in the future, noting that such incidents create panic and insecurity for the entire locality.
