CM lays foundation, inaugurates projects worth ₹373 cr

Chief minister N Biren Singh attended a public function held at the Mini Stadium, Apollo Ground in Tamenglong on Wednesday, where he inaugurated 24 projects worth Rs 24.04 crore in different sectors such as health, infrastructure, horticulture, IT, and water supply.
He also laid foundation stones for 18 new projects with an estimated cost of Rs 349.51 crore in different sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, and education.
Addressing the gathering, the CM emphasised the significance of timely completion of project and urged contractors, who are unable to meet deadlines, to refrain from taking government contracts.
He assured that the government would prioritise contractors, who work sincerely and deliver quality output.

Highlighting the BJP-led government's commitment to developing Tamenglong as a model district, he stated that Tamenglong will be the gateway of Manipur since the road connectivity is going to give a new standard of life.
He acknowledged the completion of critical infrastructure projects, such as the Tamenglong-Khongsang road, water supply schemes, and the establishment of a natural football ground.
He also mentioned that the Tamenglong-Mahur road (NH-137) construction is progressing rapidly, and once completed, it will provide direct connectivity to Assam, bypassing Nagaland for travelling to Guwahati.
However, he cautioned that this connectivity might lead to an influx of illegal immigrants, potentially threatening the indigenous communities of the state.
Drawing a parallel to Tripura, he emphasised the need to protect the cultural and demographic integrity of local tribes, including the Liangmai, Rongmei, Inpui, and Zeme communities.
Addressing other developmental concerns, the CM informed that approximately 37,000 households in the state still lack electricity.
He then encouraged residents to report their grievances to the district administration or relevant departments.
He also called for the maintenance of Apollo Ground, emphasising its unique grassy surface, and announced plans for the construct ion of cement concrete roads in Tamenglong town.
Highlighting the success of the "Go to Hills" initiative, the CM said it has enabled the government to identify and address local issues effectively.
He also noted the impact of the Chief Ministergee Hakselgee Tengbang scheme, launched in 2018, which has benefited over 2,00,000 patients with an investment of Rs 280 crore by the government, helping residents save on healthcare expenses.
In an announcement welcomed by the people, the chief minister revealed that the Tamenglong Amusement Park is set to open before the monsoon season this year.
He also assured that the DIET Centre inaugurated recently in Noney district would begin its academic session soon, with arrangements for teaching and administrative staff nearing completion.
During the event, the CM handed over the Blood Bank license to health services director Dr Chambo Gonmei, making Tamenglong the first hill district in the state to have a blood bank.
The chief minister reiterated that the BJP government is committed to fulfilling its promises and will not compromise on the quality of work.
He assured that developmental efforts would be equally prioritised across both hill and valley regions of the state.
The projects inaugurated by the CM included staff quarters at PHC Chaton and PHSC Len-glong, as well as the construction of PHSC buildings in Akhui, Kabonram, Aben, Impa, Puching, Nurathel, and Phaitol.
Additionally, a state-of-the-art blood bank and a District Early Intervention Centre have been established at the District Hospital in Tamenglong.
Other projects include a new bailey suspension bridge over the Barak River on the Tamenglong Tousem-Haflong, Builuangbut Farmer Producer Company Limited (Seed Store), improvement of the road from Council Junction to the New Secretariat Complex, IT Centre, tissue culture facility to produce disease-free planting materials for citrus crops under NERCOMP.
They also indlude augmentation of water supply schemes at Old Thengjang and Oinamlong, along with new schemes at New Thengjang, Songpibung, Dekiuram, Pallong, Taipram, and Vanchengphai.
The new projects, for which the CM laid foundations tones include construction of Type-II, III and IV quarters in Tamenglong, Tamei, Tousem and Kaimai police stations; construction of PWD office building at Tamenglong DHQs; improvement of road from Kai-phundai (on NH-37) to Tousem 56.65 km (SH: phase-1); construction of rigid pavement with thin white topping and interlocking paver blocks in the district headquarters; strengthening of IT road from Tamenglong/Dailong to Palong; improvement of TML cemetery road at DHQs; improvement of road from old PWD road to District Court Complex; improvement of road from NH-137 (Medical Gate) to Tamenglong College; improvement of road from Tamei Katang (SH: Phase-II); Builuangbut Farmer Producer Company Limited (Collection Centre and Food Processing Unit); transforming Bunning Meadows for sustainable water sources and promoting eco-tourism; Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) at Tousem & Pallong; and a working women hostel at the DHQs .
