IDP gets cash aid, kidney transplant at JNIMS

Laishram Deviya, an internally displaced person (IDP) residing at a relief camp in Leimaram following the outbreak of ethnic conflict since May 3 last year, underwent a successful kidney transplant surgery at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) on Saturday.
Deviya, who had been grappling with kidney failure, received significant support from the medical team at JNIMS, offering hope and a new lease of life after enduring the hardships of displacement and health challenges.
The Nephrology, Medicine PGT, nursing sisters, dialysis sisters, and technicians pooled together Rs 90,000 in cash, which was presented to Deviya through the head of JNIMS's Nephrology department Prof Dr Rajesh Waikhom in the presence of Relief Committee, JNIMS chairman Th Bon Khurai.
Laishram Deviya's journey has been marked by tragedy, having lost her father while staying in the relief camp.
Subsequently diagnosed with kidney failure, her condition necessitated urgent medical intervention.
Bon Khurai has extended heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and support staff at JNIMS, as well as the Bishnupur district administration, for their unwavering support throughout Deviya's medical journey.
