Polling personnel despatched, reach polling stations

Imphal, April 18 2024: As the first phase of the general election to the 18th Lok Sabha is set to be held on Friday, polling personnel, along with security personnel and equipment, designated to different parts of the state were dispersed from the election office of the districts concerned with reports confirming that most of the teams have reached their respective polling stations by Thursday evening.

Polling personnel in respect of Imphal West district, who are deployed for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency (IMPC) election, were dispersed from the District Election Office.

It may be mentioned that all the 13 assembly constituencies (ACs) within Imphal West district will join the rest of the ACs falling under IMPC in the Phase-I of the election.

Imphal West DEO, Th Kirankumar and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) monitored the dispersal and ensured all the polling personnel reached their designated polling stations safely.

There is a total of 1,319 Polling Stations (PSs) in IMPC, apart from 29 Special Polling Stations (SPSs) for the Internally Displaced People (IDPs).

The district will have 145 PSs manned exclusively by women personnel and 13 Model Polling Stations (MPSs) .

The District Election Office has also identified 70 vulnerable and critical PSs and have made special security arrangements - such as deployment of micro-observers and multiple security layers in addition to normal security measures.

THOUBAL: Polling parties in respect of Thoubal district were dispatched to their respective polling stations/booths from the Dispatch Centre at Mini Secretariat, DC Office Complex and Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School on Thursday.

The officials, after proper briefing, were handed out election materials.

Thoubal DEO A Subhash, along with election officials, oversaw the arrangements at the dispatch centre.

For the district, a total of 248 PSs have been set up - 123 for IMPC and 125 for OMPC.

Additionally, two SPSs for IDP voters staying in relief camps or otherwise (friends/relatives) have been set up.

Special polling station for voters of IMPC and OMPC are set up at Rice Research Station and YK College respectively.

All 40 PSs under Thoubal AC will be all-women PSs including three MPSs, and total number of MPSs in the six ACs of the district is 18.As per Final Electoral Rolls 2024, there are 2,04,520 voters including 1,05,262 female, 15 transgender and 1287 PwD voters in the district, with 4402 voters registered as first time voters and 1,002 recorded aS voters above the age of 85 years.

KAKCHING: The District Election Office, Kakching is also set to conduct a free and fair election in four assembly constituencies - Wabagai, Kakching, Hiyanglam and Sugnu cumulative having of 1,17,576 voters.

Polling officials and security personnel were despatched to their respective polling stations from Public Ground, Thoubal on Thursday.

The strong room for storing EVMs at Thoubal DC complex was opened earlier in the presence of Kakching DEO Rohit Anand, ADM M Kapajit, AROs, nodal officers, and political parties' representatives.

Altogether 143 PSs have been set up in the four Acs and five SPSs set up for IDPs staying in various relief camps (2 for Inner and 3 for Outer).

The SPSs have also been identified for displaced eligible electors not staying in relief camps like those putting up with relatives/ friends within the jurisdiction of Kakching district.

Altogether 31,372 voters will cast their votes at 36 PSs in Wabagai AC including 16,311 female and 6 transgender voters.

Out of the total 36 PSs, eight will be manned by women personnel.

Altogether 70 vehicles have been requisitioned for the AC.

Kakching AC has 30,218 voters, out of which 14,473 are male, 15,737 are female and 8 are transgender voters.

There will be 36 PSs for Kakching AC, of which 17 will be manned by women personnel.

A total of 68 vehicles have been requisitioned for election duties.

For Hiyanglam AC, a total of 27,846 voters will exercise their franchise across 36 PSs.

This includes 13,674 male and 14,172 female voters.

Women personnel will man 17 PSs while 51 vehicles have been requisitioned for this particular AC.

In respect of Sugnu AC, a total of 28,140 voters are set to cast their votes at 35 PSs.

There are 13,992 male, 14,141 female and 7 transgender voters.

Of the 35 PSs, six will be manned by women personnel, and three SPSs are set up for IDPs.

A total of 54 vehicles have been requisitioned for poll-related duties for the AC.

BISHNUPUR: Bishnupur DEO Lourembam Bikram flagged off polling officials and security personnel for duty in respect of six ACs of the district for the first phase of voting of the 18th Lok Sabha Election, 2024 from the dispersal centre at the Mini Secretariat complex on Thursday.

The poll personnel along with the EVMs/VVPATs and other polling materials to be utilised for polling were escorted in over 350 vehicles from the dispersal centre to their respective polling stations by armed security personnel: The strong rooms were opened on Thursday morning for taking out the EVMs and VVPATs.

Mention may be made here that the total number of electors in the district as per the final special summary revision 2024 is 1,83,472 (89,209 male, 94,220 female, and 43 transgender).

There will be 256 PSs including 22 SPSs.

The total number of polling personnel deployed on election duty is 1332 including 30 per cent reserved, while the total number of security personnel deployed is 2086, including armed and unarmed personnel.

Bishnupur SP Ksh Ravi-kumar, Additional DEO H Bobby and other nodal officers of the district were also present during the flag-off.
