Kakching, December 17 2025:
National People's Party (NPP) Manipur State Legislature leader Mayanglambam Rameshwar has strongly condemned the alleged armed firing attack carried out by Kuki militants at PhougakchaoIkhai in Torbung area on Tuesday night.
Speaking to the media during a press conference held at his residence at Kakching Makha Lou, Rameshwar said that at a time when concerted efforts are being made by the Government to restore normalcy in the State through the return and resettlement of IDPs to their original homes, such attacks are a deliberate attempt to derail the peace process.
He added that the Central Government's initiative to promote peace between the two communities should not be undermined by acts of violence.
The NPP leader urged the Government to identify and punish those responsible for the attack and called for the adoption of additional precautionary measures to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future.
Rameshwar further stated that since the outbreak of violence in May 2023, the people of Manipur have suffered immensely and continue to live in despair.
Emphasising the urgent need to address the plight of the affected population and restore normalcy in the State, he appealed to all communities to support and not obstruct the peace initiatives undertaken by the Government.
