Nagaland Governor La Ganesan no more; many condole

Imphal, August 16 2025:
Nagaland Governor La Ganesan passed away at a hospital in Chennai, on Friday evening.
He was 80.Ganesan was taken to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai after suffering a serious head injury from a fall at his T Nagar residence on August 8 .
Ganesan was appointed as the governor of Nagaland since February 20, 2023 .
He also served as the Governor of West Bengal, in an additional charge role, from July 18, 2022 to November 17, 2022 respectively and Governor of Manipur from 2021 till 2023.Former chief minister N Biren on his social media 'X' post condoled the demise of Nagaland Governor and former Manipur Governor La Ganesan.
"He will be remembered for his sincere commitment to the welfare of our state and his devoted service to the nation.
My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones in this moment of grief.
May his soul rest in eternal peace," he said, reminding that even in the midst of serious matters, he always brought ease with his gentle humour and warmth, a memory he will always cherish.
Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Th Satyabrata in his condolence message stated that to the people of Manipur, he was not merely a constitutional head but a pillar of empathy and grace.
"Though his final chapter was written in Nagaland, his bond with Manipur remained unbroken," he added, while extending condolences to his family and love ones.
Meanwhile, as a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, the Government of Nagaland has declared seven days of state mourning from August 16 to August 22.During this period, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all buildings where it is regularly flown.
