On the other-hand, Lam-khai to Sugnu Road Development and Demand Committee has called for a 36-hour general strike along the Hiyanglam-Wabagai Keithel to Sugnu road stretch from 6 am of August 20 to denounce alleged failure to repair/construct the road despite repeated appeals.
The announcement was made on the final day of the sit-in protest launched by the Demand Committee to press the state government repair the same route within August 17.During a protest at Lamjao and Hiyanglam-Wabagai Lamkhai Keithel on Friday, a representative of the committee informed media persons that residents along the said road stretch have been persistently requesting to initiate repairing and staging various protests without yielding any positive response from the authorities.
Consequently, the committee has decided to blockade the road from 6 am of August 20 with exemptions for only education, health, water, media persons, and emergency services.
